Consulting, Training and Certification courses are offered to members and supporters on a regular basis. There are also bespoke and specially tailored courses for members of the public, other SAR and operational units, emergency services, civil defence, government agencies, NGOs in the UK and abroad.
As an umbrella body - ERT SAR offers training to our member teams, community groups, Others SAR interested individuals and various government and non Government agencies around the world. Individuals can book on our courses and attend them for a nominal fee. Certificates will be given (but fitness will not be tested. ERT SAR only fitness tests ERT Operational Members.)
Using international curriculum and standards (i.e., NFPA (National Fire Protectioon Agency), FEMA, UK Home Office, ODPM (Officer Deputy Prime Minister), HSE (Health & Safety Executive), RYA (Royal Yachting Association), etc., and best practise requirement with established K.P.I.s (Key Perfeormance Indicators) - we provide training courses and certificates or diplomas after successful completion.
Some courses are run under the aegis of other governing or approving bodies or agencies - which will often also have the logo and name on the materials and certificate.

We are run our stable 'Standard Training' for all members - which requires a prior study of one or two books and a written assessment - prior to the practical.
In 2009 ERT SAR also launched the 'Instructor Trainer' programmes allowing those qualified to teach externally. i.e., A member of a Specialist Search & Rescue team in another part of the world is trained and qualified to teach and offer the ERT SAR certification in various subjects. This is developing through 2010.
